[Only natural. What's that supposed to mean? she'd ask, a little offended at the implication that she has butterfingers—but she realizes that Parvati's just given her a convenient excuse to not explain what actually happened, so she doesn't.]
I... just hang out up here sometimes. [She likes to be tall (and above it all, whenever she feels like control is slipping away from her).] The view's not bad, right?
[She nods toward the edge of the roof, apparently inviting Parvati to turn around and take a look. It may not be on the same level as the view of Shibuya from the top of 104, but it does provide a decent aerial view of Bottlecap Bay and the menagerie of Pokémon passing through its streets.]
[ parvati glances out at the bay with shoka's comment. ]
Yeah. That ain't bad at all. [ she looks back to shoka with a smile. ] Don't blame ya for it, suddenly I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone up here doing more stuff like yours. Just be more careful so close to the edge, wouldn't want a worse accident.
[ she's not sure what else to say, really. shoka seems at least somewhat avoidant of the conversation to begin with, so. ]
[Feeling like she's being scolded, Shoka wants to say something snippy, but the fact of the matter is that she did drop something on a total stranger and it was embarrassing (and she's not sure she has the energy to drag out an argument right now anyway). Instead, she mumbles out:]
... Got it.
[A pause, then, as she looks down at the Pikachu doll still sitting in her hand. Thinking on the way Parvati waved at it, like it was something alive, she suddenly hands it back.]
[ parvati takes it back into her hands with wide eyes, looking down at it. ]
If... if you're sure? [ she hesitates, but clearly shoka wants to get away from her as quickly as possible, so she just takes it and holds it close. ] Heh, thanks. Might be the nicest thing I've recieved since I got here.
[She sounds almost resentful of the Pikachu doll. It seems like she wants to get away from it more than she wants to get away from Parvati. As if to make that clearer, instead of immediately scurrying away from the conversation, she gives an amused snort and continues.]
[ well parvati thinks the doll is plenty nice! as evidenced by her holding it real gentle. ]
Uh, yeah. Got here in September. [ it's also not like she's recieved a lot of things, but this is nicer to her than the weird little figurine tenna gave her. what even was that. ] Never got much in the way of gifts before that, either.
[ it'll look nice on her shelf, at least! once she finally gets that put up. ] You been here a while?
Oh, wow. You're new-new. [Compared to Shoka, at least.] You could say that. Comin' up on a year now...
[It's almost been a year, and yet she still manages to pull off dumb stunts like this. A year, and she still backslides into some of her worst old habits. It's strange—and embarrassing—to think about, so she tries not to.]
[ yep. that was as awkward as she could muster. great job. she mentally kicks herself for having made zero improvement on that front. two months, huh? it's finally hitting her just how long that is, even if she can so easily condense that down into eight weeks -- which feels lesser to her. she shudders at the thought that she may end up grounded here, in an unfamiliar body, for longer than she ever spent aboard the unreliable. ]
A year, huh? O-oh. And your name too, if that's all right?
[She's teasingly imitating the inflection of Parvati's own introduction, because she just has to.]
Try not to freak out on me, okay? Just 'cause I've been stuck here for a year doesn't mean you'll be.
[Then again, it's not like anyone who's been brought to the Bay from another world has ever actually left. The only ones gone are the ones who fell into comas. Mercifully, she opts not to explain this to Parvati.]
